Large Animals
1.21.20
This week, I worked on the "Large Animals" assignment. I did this entirely on Photoshop CC 2018. Below is the finished product.
Above are the two photos I used to create the final image. Before I started, I read the articles linked on the assignment. The tutorial was helpful because it showed me how to adjust the lighting and add shadows and highlights. The other article that showed a bunch of examples was cool because I got to see different ways to approach the assignment. I decided to go with a white cat as my subject and mountain range as my background to give it scale. Combining the images was easy, but adjusting the lighting was difficult. I wanted to create as realistic an image as possible, so I shaded in areas of the cat's body that would fit the lighting of the mountain background. I also added in a big shadow of the cat on the ground. Then, I decided I wanted it to look like the cat is walking through the clouds, so I added more clouds using the brush tool. The last thing I did was intensify the natural shadows on the mountains to make the light source more clear. In the end, I was happy with my result. The only thing is that the cat looks almost see-through in comparison to the sky and clouds, which makes it look less real. Maybe next time I wouldn't add as many highlights.
